Popsugar Must Have Limited Edition Fall 2016 Review

I used to be able to resist these limited edition boxes. Then I just gave up. Popsugar knows how to make me happy and it’s usually always worth it. Actually, I think so far, it always has. The Popsugar Limited Edition boxes have incredible value and if you don’t love everything, gifting what you don’t like is easy.

The spoiler for this box was the Caeden Linea Headphones in Rose Gold. They’re expensive! I almost (almost) bought a second box just so I could gift a pair. The only reason I didn’t was that if I didn’t like them, I could gift the ones I had. The headphones alone were worth more than the cost of the box which made my deal-loving brain very happy.

The Cost: $100/ea

What You Get: All the things!

Buji Baja With Love From EuroStar Lavender Rib Scarf- This is my color. Totally my color. I tend to waffle around with wearing scarves. Here in Seattle, it’s mainly the rain that gets you and a scarf doesn’t help with that. However, with our possible upcoming move to Colorado (omgsonervousstillwaitingtofindoutifhegetstheoffer), I’m probably going to be very happy to have this since they actually get snow and we don’t.

The scarf is super soft and eminently wearable. It also has a ridiculous retail value. It’s 90% acrylic and 10% mohair. Who knew plastic and goat hair could be so chic, right?
Value: $70

Jack & Lucy Faux Fur Pom Keychain- Okay, I don’t know why but I adore this. I love the color, the furriness and the fact that it goes on your keychain. It’s adorable. I know, I know, it’s a totally useless item but is SO cute! It’s already on my keys and I’m probably going to move it around onto one of my purses with gold hardware for a pop of color. Seriously. I love it.
That being said the retail value also seems a little far fetched. Especially when I think this is a brand created by Popsugar. Would I pay $41 for it? Absolutely not. But you bet your boots I’m using it because I have it!
Value: $41

Sloane Stationery Great Thoughts Notepad- This is a hardcover notepad. It flips up and has lined pages. Each note pad is handmade in England by classically trained craftsmen. This is nice and a color I love but I prefer a horizonal page turn over a vertical one.
Value: $52

Caedan Linea No. 1 Faceted Ceramic & Rose Gold Headphones- I love these! At first I thought the ear part was too small but it works fine. And they look cute!

The sound is, I think, a tad on the bass side but I don’t mind since that’s my favorite part anyway.

They’re very comfortable on the ears, Lots of puffy goodness. What remains to be seen is longevity. There were some reviews on Amazon that suggested they didn’t last long.

The cord is woven and has controls that are useable if you have an Apple product. I don’t. I have a Samsung Galaxy and they don’t work. Kiiiinda bummed that I can’t control the volume from the headset. Otherwise, I’m adorable in these. Haha!
Value: $149.99

Lancer Skincare Dani Glowing Skin Perfector- I like Lancer skincare and have used some of their products in the past. Here’s the blurb:

An innovative illuminating skin finisher and treatment that revitalizes, brightens, and perfects all skin tones in one step. This lightweight cream harnesses the superior youth-building properties of Asian botanicals to help firm aging skin, diffuse imperfections and blur pore visibility for a smoother, visibly lifted effect. Micro-fine, light-catching mineral highlighters delicately disperse over imperfections and enhance skin’s natural radiance. The result is a lit-from-within glow with a distinctively younger look.

This can be used after your moisturizer and SPF to give your skin a glow. You can also just use it as a highlighter. Or mix a drop with your regular foundation. You’re supposed to use it on your face, neck and chest. I’m kind of waffling on using it because I try not to get too glowy. And for me, maybe it’s my age, I don’t know, but I feel like highlighters/illuminizers makes my skin look older. Like my skin is plasticky. Does that even make sense? You know how skin can get when someone has had a facelift? Like that. So I’m suuuuper minimal about it.

However this is different so maybe I should give it a chance. I’d never buy this on my own so this is my chance.
Value: $95

Thrive Causemetics Triple Threat Color Stick in “Joy”- It’s kind of funny they put this in AND the Lancer product. They’re not the exact same thing but they’re close. I have to laugh at myself right now because the information card says that this has a built-in brush for blending and sculpting and I had no clue. So it’s not shown. It explains why I could not get the product to twist up for the longest time. I was trying to twist it up with the lid that covers the brush. Haha!

Anyway, Joy is a rose gold shimmer. It’s designed for your lips, cheeks and body. They have some tips for use on their website:

Hint of Color
Apply color to the hollows of your cheeks to add a subtle flush.

Natural Flush
Apply color to the apples of your cheeks. (Smile to find them!)

Sheer Finish
Use damp fingertips to lightly tap color onto your cheeks or lips.

Sun-Kissed Glow
Sweep Joy (Rose Gold) onto your cheekbones and/or the bridge of your nose.

Fuller-Looking Pout
Dot Joy (Rose Gold) on the center of your bottom lip to create a fuller-looking pout.

It looks like Joy is different than the others because it’s recommended for use as a highlighter. I tried this on my lips and I was not impressed at all. My lips dried up instantly.

I’ll play with this as a bronzer/highlighter and see what I think. Based on my luck with highlighters, I might continue to be unimpressed.
Value: $36

VERDICT: I’m wearing my headphones right now and loving it. As I mentioned, the fur pom is already on my keychain. The scarf couldn’t be a more perfect color and its soft, snuggly and comfy. While I’m not a fan of the notebook, it’s giftable. I’m not sure about the Thrive but I’ll give it a chance. That’s what these boxes are for! The Lancer… /sigh. It would make such an excellent gift to my mom but I secretly do want to try it. I bet she’d let me if I asked… But I’m not paying $95 if I like it! Hm. Swaps.
I’ve always found that the Limited Edition boxes have come out with more things I like than things I don’t. Considering I needed a good pair of headphones, anyway, it was absolutely worth it.

While you can’t purchase this box any longer (it’s sold out), there will be a Winter 2016 box coming up if you keep your eye out. Until then you can tide yourself over with the regular monthly box, if you choose. I love them! Get $5 off with code MUSTHAVE5. That’s only for the regular box.

What did you think of this box? Too weird to have two highlighting products? Someone please tell me I’m not the only one obsessed with that puff! 😀
