The jewelry itself arrives in this handwoven pouch made from palm leaves in Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca is a state in southern Mexico that has the highest population of indigenous peoples. The moutainous terrain has provided a safe haven but also led to widespread poverty due to lack of economic opportunities, shared language and agricultural land.
Despite that, Oaxaca is one of the largest products of handicrafts in Mexico. Traditions passed down from the variety of cultures has led to quality arts and textile work. The hardest part? Getting it to the rest of the world. And that’s where GlobeIn comes in. These patterns and techniques come from some of the oldest peoples in the world and have survived for generations despite seemingly insurmountable odds.

Wave Cuff– This brass cuff was made in Teguchigalpa, Honduras as part of Tribe Alive’s collaboration with the Mi Esperanza, a free jewelry training program that teaches women how to make jewelry and handbags in order that they may earn a livelihood for themselves and their families.
This piece is delicate and absolutely beautiful. I can’t stop wearing it. It fits with anything and everything from jeans and a tank to a black gown.

The blue cloth envelope is also handmade. Woven in Guatemala using the art of Mayan backstrap weaving. This was made by Cecilia, who is now able to support her entire family through her work.
Value: $32 (Handwoven Pouch Value: $18)

Brass Crescent Stud Earrings– Made of brushed brass, these match perfectly with the pendant that’s also included in this box.
Value: $25

Token Pendant Necklace– Also brushed brass, I think this might be my favorite piece. Except that I love everything! This is simplistic yet elegant in design. I can wear it with anything. Looove it!!

Value: $35

Duo Ring– This ring is different from anything I currently have which makes it even more fun. What I especially like about this ring is that it’s not perfect. It’s easy to wear and fits on just about any finger I want to wear it on. Plus, it can be worn front to back for another look.
This ring was made by Sulema, who started at Mi Esperanza in the jewelry training program and now is part of the team. With the money she earns, she is able to send her children to school to learn English.
Value: $25

The Limited Edition Jewelry box has a value of over $130. I love dainty and delicate jewelry like this. The pieces in this box are so versatile, too. While brass isn’t my favorite metal, it does develop a patina over time that I like. I think I might want the brushed pieces to stay shiny, though. GlobeIn recommends soaking the brass in a mixture of water in lemon juice for five minutes then rubbing clean.
