Sephora Play! Beauty Box Review May 2016 Unboxing

The Sephora Play! subscription has been around since December, I think, but it was only debuted in certain cities. It recently opened up to those who were waitlisted and you bet I subscribed! I mean, it’s Sephora! I figured their brand clout would get some pretty great goodies in boxes every month.

The theme for the month is Forces of Nature and involves natural beauty and skincare products. They don’t seem super big on the mystery of it all since the contents are revealed fairly early on. Inside the box, everything arrived in a cotten drawstring bag with “Let’s Beauty Together” on it. I’m not sure if it’s the same every month or what. I’ll find out!

The Cost: $10/month
What You Get: A collection of five deluxe samples plus a fragrance in a cute bag, delivered monthly.
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask– I recently have been getting into haircare, since I bleached mine and then direct dyed it purple and pink. Then blue. And now it’s purple again. All this really does a number on your hair but I’ve found that Briogeo makes a great avocado Cleansing Conditioner. I’ve been using it regularly and absolutely love it. Not that I was expecting to. Now I’ve got to get my hands on more because my bottle is almost out! Perfect timing for this conditioning mask, though.

Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial– Sadly this has alcohol as one of it’s top ingredients and with my dry skin I’m avoiding leaving products with alcohol on my face.

Bite Beauty amuse bouce in Kimchi– This is… fuschia? It’s a very bright pink and I actually really like it! Super smooth and moisturizing, too.
Plus, this size is always my fave. I wish all lipsticks came like this.
Origins Maskimizer + Drink Up and Clear Improvement Masks– I absolutely love the Origins Clear Improvement mask. I’ve been using it since before they changed the name and my skin adores it. It’s my favorite charcoal mask of all the ones I’ve tried (which is a lot).
Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine– This fragrance contains a high percentage of genuine essential oils including citrus and blood orange. I’ve received this before and I don’t really like it although I do like other scents by Atelier Cologne.
Tarte Lip Crayon in Latergram– This is a fairly dark nude (at least for me) but since I’m a big fan of lip crayons, I’ll be using this. I’ve found that they are magic for making sure your lipstick doesn’t feather. When you get old, these are problems. /sigh

VERDICT: Since this was my very first Sephora Play! box, I had some pretty high expectations. I do love the Tarte crayon, the Bite Beauty lipstick and the Briogeo hair mask, for sure! That’s already a good portion of the box. Korres is a great brand to see, even if it’s not something I’ll use. While I don’t like getting perfume, it’s basically inevitable in any kind of beauty box. I do wish they didn’t send foil packets but that’s just me. It’s also my first box so I dont know how common that is. I can’t really complain about it because I *love* the charcoal mask.

If you would like to sign up for Play! by Sephora, you can do that here. I think they may actually be operating on a waitlist so get your name in asap, if you want a chance of getting off of it. You can’t get off the list if you were never on it!

What do you think of this box? Sephora seems like they’d have some pretty rockin’ business relationships and so be able to get great items for their boxes.
