The Allure Beauty Box is my favorite low cost beauty related subscription box. I find they send great brands, good sizes and an even array of skincare, makeup and haircare. It’s always worth it and sometimes we get fun things like candles!
The Cost: $15/month
What You Get: Five deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk- So normally I’m always hating on dry shampoo but today I think I might need this. Since I dyed my hair a crazy pink/purple with a direct dye, I can’t wash my hair very often and everyone else says dry shampoo is where it’s at with hair this color. So I may have to buckle down and try it. Since I mainly trade mine away immediately, this was a serendipitous inclusion!
Eau Thermale Avene Body Oil- What’s with all the oils lately? They must be the new fad. Not that it’s a bad one. This oil is for very dry, sensitive skin. Since I tend to get pretty dry during the winter, this sounds pretty good. Except it smells like grass. The editors comment that this is thick and takes awhile to sink in. Doesn’t sound too good after the Nuxe Multi-use Body Oil. That has a strong scent but it sinks in and leaves the skin super smooth.
Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple- While I’m not one for eyeliners, I *do* love it when they aren’t black. This is a sturdy pencil with a smudger. I’m keeping it but not opening it for now. I just prefer not to use eyeliner with lash extensions because it’s nearly impossible to get off (you can’t get oil on the lashes or they’ll unglue and most eye makeup removers use oil).
Value: $10
BONUS: Chapstick Total Hydration in Soothing Vanilla- This is sooo soft and smooth. I have perpetually chapped lips, it seems like. This glides on without pulling and smells amazing. Since it’s a bonus, it’s not counted toward the cost of the box but it does make the box even more awesome! I love it!
Skinceuticals Resveratrol BE- The insert says this is proven to penetrate skin in this concentration but it doesn’t say how far. From what I’ve read, the benefits of resveratrol are minimal and tend to be apparently only if you drink it. In copious amounts. Not that that will stop me from using it (just from buying it an at insane price).
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Oil Free- I’ve received loads of this over the years but I don’t really care for it. Or maybe I just have others I prefer more. I like the green tinted one by Smashbox but also one by From the Lab and a few others. One of the editors comments that it didn’t work for her dry skin and that could also be why I don’t like it.
Illume Blackberry Absinthe Travel Tin- I like getting candles! This is supposed to smell like blackberry and orange with patchouli and sandalwood. Drat that patchouli. I’m not loving the scent, it’s very masculine and I was hoping for a licorice smell. Nada.
VERDICT: This is another really well balanced Beauty Box! The variety is excellent and includes products appropriate for winter, too. This box is an example of why I haven’t unsubscribed in two years.
If you would like to sign up for the Allure Beauty Box, you can do that here. Since it’s the only thing Allure sells, it’s a weird website url but it’s the real thing. So far no coupons.
