Allure Beauty Box July 2015 Review

It’s here! The first since the full rebranding and separation from BeautyBar! It doesn’t appear that much has changed and I am exceedingly happy with this particular box. Yes, even though I hate hair stuff.

The Cost: $15/month

What You Get: Five deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.

Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50– Ohai! We’ve met before in the Popsugar July Box! I am very happy to have this half ounce, travel size spray bottle. So easy to toss in my purse. I’ve been very conscious of the need to reapply sunscreen every two hours. As much as I wish I could just put it on in the morning with my makeup, being in the sun later in the afternoon means my skin needs an SPF refresher and this is it! It smells minty and delicious. I don’t recommend getting it in your hair because it does make it sticky. It’s not perfect but it’s better than feeling your skin crisp up and wrinkle.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length + Volume Mascara in Black– This is black mascara with little fibers that cling to your lashes to make them look longer and add a little volume. I like this kind of mascara so I’ll keep this and try it. For when I can no longer get my favorite Hope Girl 140 SuperLash.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II– Whew, what a name! It’s right up there with some of these Asian beauty product names. This is a very nice under eye serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalane and a little caffeine. So you’ll be de-puffed, hydrated and sealed against the elements all in one go.

Invisibobble– This is “an artificial resin hair tie.” I’m laughing because the description says it’s like the cord on your old landline phone. We used to have yellow landline phones but their cords were flat and curly. These are round. And actually, I think my parents still have one of those yellow phones in the garage. And I’m talking mustard yellow that was popular in the 70’s. Yes. The phones are old. And so am I. Oof.
So these might not make lines but they just tangle in my hair and then rip it out when I try to pull them. So these will be passed along to someone with less hair than me who can appreciate them.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer– This is a light oil spray that adds shine and softness while protecting from heat and UV damage. It has a bunch of oils in it- grapeseed, sweet almond, coconut, macadamia nut and argan oil. It seems like you should be able to eat it. I love that the editors tips say not to use this on dry hair. Only on wet hair for fine haired people like me. It’s got a pleasing scent that’s sort of coconutty. I’m not sure I’ll use this just because I have my Birchbox Beauty Protector that I currently never want to live without. Magic. I’m telling you that stuff is magic.

Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo– Oscar Blandi is definitely having a love affair with this box. He has appeared many times over the months whether it was Beauty Bar Sample Society or Allure Sample Society or now Allure Beauty Box. However, it hasn’t been the dry shampoo until now. I have a lot of this because he really gets around. That dog! Anyway, I don’t use this stuff because no dry shampoo I’ve ever used has made me happy. No. It just makes me flaky or greasy. Or both.

VERDICT: A wonderful first Allure Beauty Box. I know, it’s not really the first one but it’s the first that’s finally separated from Beauty Bar. I also noticed that this is not shipping via UPS like it did before but instead is USPS. That stinks for me because now my mailman comes late but my UPS guy still comes in the morning. Bummer.
This box has a great selection of items and I always love the brands they include. This was an extra nice box because it had six items and I’m used to only five. I always like the good products in Sample Society and I feel it’s worth the $15.

If you would like to sign up for Allure Beauty Box, It has a weird address but its the real thing. They cancelled all the coupon codes so there aren’t any available currently (as far as I know). Bummer.
