Boxycharm March 2015 Review ~ Lucky Charm

Normally, I’m all over my Boxycharm but the March 2015 box is a little underwhelming for me.  I think it’s because I didn’t love last months either.  Not that either box is bad or anything, just that they haven’t be “for me.” If you know what I mean.  A box can be a good box and have all the right elements but if it doesn’t have things I will use it’s not truly worth it.

This box definitely has the value monetarily. It has some big ticket items and the Tarte alone is worth the price of the box.  This has a great spread of products-from hair to skincare to makeup-which is wonderful.  I always love it when a box has a little of everything.  It makes it easier for someone to find something to enjoy.

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Full size and luxury size beauty samples of the best beauty products from popular and chic brands.  Anything from nail care and  hair products to the top skin care and cosmetics.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo Spray-Now I’m sure this is a very nice dry shampoo.  I like Oscar Blandi but mostly for his Texturizing and Volume spray (seriously, that stuff is magic) but dry shampoo will never be on my love list.  I’ve tried all the tricks and nothing ever works for me.  Either it leaves flakes or doesn’t soak up the grease or it leaves my hair coated in I don’t even know what. So this is not for me. I think there were two other options and I would take anything over dry shampoo. Hah!
Value: $11

LVX Nail Polish in Lemondrop- Ive never heard of LVX but this is actually a pretty pastel yellow. For a bedspread.  Or an Easter basket.  Or a baby onesie.  But not for my nails.
Value: $16

Previse Nutrify Serum-This is a moisturizing serum with plant extracts and sodium hyaluronate. Based on the ingredients it’s a nice serum with antioxidants and moisturizers.  It’s quite liquidy and needs some massaging to soak into the skin.  There’s a bit of stickiness but that fades and leaves the skin very soft.  I will likely use this.  It has an herby smell to it but it’s not too bad.  It’s also a full size item!
Value: $48

Tarte LipSurgence in Charmed- Aww, Charmed for Boxycharm and the Lucky Charm theme, super cuuuute. I was afraid I might not like the color but I was wrong. It’s a nice, sheer pink that glides on nicely and has a satisfying shine. Love!
Value: $24

Ofra Eyeliner in Light Beige- So this is a beige/nude color.  It’s pretty hard and tugs too much but maybe if I warmed it up or something, it wouldn’t be so bad.  Since I have a beige already that I love (Clio!) which applies much more smoothly with better color payoff, I won’t use this.  I use it for my lower waterline to brighten up my eye area.  It’s supposed to make your eyes look bigger (which I need because I have little pea eyes) and brighter and can also be applied on the inner corner of your eye.  I double I would ever use this color for anything else.  I’d much rather be using a dark color on my top lid.
Value: $13

VERDICT:  Alright, so remember how I said I was kinda “meh” on this box at the beginning.  I think I lied.  Because really…  I like the Tarte and the Previse and they are worth more than the box price by triple.  But the other three products I don’t really need.  I’m sure that someone else would be in raptures over the dry shampoo although I doubt anyone is going to be begging me for yellow nail polish.  I can’t even think of a reason someone would want to.  Maybe if you wanted to draw yellow flowers on your green nail polish?  I don’t know.  And I do have to admit, that if I didn’t already have a beige liner, I would be super happy to have this just to try out lining my lower lids.  So there you go!  The box is actually great and even though I only like two products, I did get my money’s worth because I *would* pay $10 each for the Tarte and Previse.

If you would like to sign up for Boxycharm, you can do that right here on their website.  You can earn Charms by referring friends, reviewing items and staying subscribed every three months.  Then you can spend the Charms in their little store.  The store isn’t much but it’s a way to spend your charms and get a little something as a bonus.
