The February 2015 Boxycharm started out looking amazing based on the spoilers. Once I saw the nail polish, I knew I was going to find something to love. Boxycharm is my main subscription box for makeup. Most of my makeup seems to come from Boxycharm so I can’t give it up even when there are some things I can’t use.
The Cost: $21/month.
What You Get: Full size and luxury size beauty samples of the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Anything from nail care and hair products to the top skin care and cosmetics.
ncLA Nail Lacquer in “Heart Attack”– This is my favorite thing in the box! Lots of hearts in pink and red with a glitter finish. It’s actually difficult for me to get glitter this large to look good but hey, I’ll get some practice at least.
Value: $14
Mullein & Sparrow Mini Facial Mask– This is a clay wash off mask mixed with herbs like lavender.
My curse is a lavender allergy so I can’t use this, sadly. But I like clay masks a lot. This is smaller than I was imagining but I think it’s about two uses.
Value: $6
Mistura Beauty Solutions Complexion Corrector– This comes across incredibly cheap. The brand is notated by a peeling plastic sticker. I’m not impressed by this Canadian beauty brand in the slightest. This is one more thing I can’t use because I’ve got pink undertones and this is decidedly yellow. This is supposed to help cover up redness, broken capillaries and imperfections. It says it’s for all skin tones but I’m skeptical. Yellow based concealers tend to be so noticeable on my fair skin. Pink ones work out so much better for me.
Value: $36 (I’m not sure how I feel about this value)
JingAi Velvet Shine Lip Jewel in Raspberry Ice– As far as I can tell, there were two colors for this lip crayon and I got the better one! This is a pretty, bright magenta. I like it! Of course, I’m partial to lippies of all kinds. This is made with macadamia seed oil, shea butter and jojoba seed oil.
Modern Minerals Fiber Mini Round Brush– This is perfect for shading, highlighting and applying concealer. It’s super soft and I really like it. I’ll definitely use is.
Value: $15
VERDICT: This is not my favorite Boxycharm ever but it’s not bad. It’s actually got quite a nice spread of products and I *love* getting tools! Give me all the brushes! I think I’m just a little bummed about the lavender in the face mask because I love clay masks so much! I’m sure it’s fantastic and I can’t use it! /cry I’ll use the brush, lip crayon and nail polish but the corrector and mask will have to find a new home and unless someone says the corrector is awesome, that home might be the trash. I can’t get over how cheap it looks.
