TooFaced has started releasing Mystery Bags on Cyber Mondays. I snagged last years and loved it so I stayed up til midnight to snag the 2016 version. It was touted as being the “best mystery bag yet” but *cough* in my opinion that is an overstatement of reality.
This bag is $39.95 and you can only purchase one at a time. It’s not a subscription like I usually review, it’s just a one time purchase so there’s no worries about cancelling or anything like that. And everyone’s bag is the same, no variations.
Here’s what we got:
The bag included six products. Two mascaras, an eyeliner, a lipstick, glitter glue and an eyeshadow palette.
Line it. Blend it. Smoke it. Create a precise, high-impact line or blend to create a quick smoldering, smokey eye that locks down in seconds for 24-hour bulletproof wear. This is a pretty fat liner but it does get great reviews. I managed to not smudge it in time and boy, it really doesn’t want to come off!

TooFaced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Melted Frosting- Mmm… Pepto pink. Just the color everyone wants to rock while at work. No. I’d love it if they sent a more universally skin friendly color. I like Melted but yech on the color.

Nikkie x TooFaced Better than Sex Mascara in Purple (Deluxe Size)- Another travel mascara but purple. I’m using this for New Years but I’m not opening it til then. I can’t seem to find it for sale and it may be that it was only part of the Nikkie collaboration. In that case, it’s fun to get! However! There is absolutely NO difference between packaging! I had to write purple on it so I don’t forget.
An intensely black, volumizing mascara with an hourglass-shaped brush that separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection. I have to say that while this is a good mascara, it doesn’t make my “great” list because it flakes and leaves smudges. If I can sleep with it on and wake up without smudges and flakes, that is a keeper mascara. 🙂 Hey, I’m just being real. Sometimes I am lazy and just want to sleep!

TooFaced Glitter Glue (Deluxe Size)- After looking it up, I think this is a deluxe size, too. Glitter Glue is your full-coverage insurance policy against glitter fallout. Lock down glitter, shimmer, or metallic shadows and enhance their reflective quality. Tap a small amount onto bare lids to lock glitter down.
I’ve been wanting this for awhile now! I don’t mind the travel size part because it takes me forever to go through even this much. I love the Shadow Insurance and I’m excited to try this.

I was so excited about getting a palette until I saw it was Cat Eyes. Mainly because I already have it and secondly because it was on sale for half price the same time this bag came out. Hopefully no one bought the mystery bag AND the Cat Eye palette (to get that free shipping). That would suck. Since I already have it, I will be gifting this one. Here’s my palette swatches:

The far right shades are to be used wet and dry as both a shadow and a liner. I don’t use this palette much because I have others I like better.
Value: $36 (regular price) $18 (on sale at the same time as the bag)
VERDICT: I think I was mostly disappointed that there were three deluxe size products. Last year’s was definitely better for me, at least. Then there’s my personal disappointment with already having the shadow palette. True, there were only five products last year but I would have loved to see a blush or a bronzer (or both!) even in a travel size instead of two mascaras. So this bag was not really worth it to me. I won’t say it was a waste of money, though, because I can gift the products I won’t use.
