The October 2014 Loot Crate theme is FEAR and while it didn’t really strike a chord within me, I still wanted whatever goodies were going to be inside. I’m not a huge fan of scary games, Silent Hill game me nightmares and Alice creeped me out so badly, I couldn’t bring myself to continue playing.
When you’re home by yourself it’s not a really good thing.
The Cost: $13.37 plus shipping
What You Get: A box of gamer gear, nerd loot and fanboy awesomeness delivered to your door. Regularly includes exclusive collectibles and T shirts.
Of course, I’m the big baby that was so freaked out by the Blair Witch Project, I got terrified every time I had to go downstairs to my own basement. It was set up JUST like that last scene. *shiver* So glad I moved.
Luckily, there was nothing but fun and ridiculaise in this box. I’m seriously in love with the T shirt. It’s so awful I can’t help liking it. Whose brain comes up with this stuff? I mean really!?
Death by Kitten T-shirt– So this worked out really well. I got this shirt in a Womens Medium. I didn’t mean to. But last month with the theme Galactic, I decided to get 2 crates because I didn’t want to share. The one bad thing about Loot Crate is that you have to email to cancel. Well I emailed and I told them I wanted to cancel the most recently purchased box subscription (mine with my sizes). Well, they cancelled the wrong sub only I didn’t realize it until now.
But it worked out okay because now *I* get to wear the Death by Kitten shirt! I’m going to wear it tomorrow.
Value: $14
Capcom Sledgesaw Hammer Pen– This is made by Capcom and it’s an exclusive! I haven’t played DeadRising (any of them) since it’s not my style. I’m not sure exactly what I will do with it since it’s not really purse friendly. But I know I’ll be happy every time I look at it and/or use it. It’s pretty intricate. I think my favorite part is the electrical tape that’s holding the saw onto the pen. Nice touch.
Value: $9?
Loot Crate Button– Each month Loot Crate includes a button to add to your collection. I’m not sure that it serves any purpose and I’m far too old to have a backpack to pin this to. Do kids still do that these days?
Slashes and Bites Stickers– If there’s one thing I wish, it’s that Loot Crate would not put stickers in their boxes. Who uses these, anyway? I can’t even imagine a 16 year old boy getting excited about stickers much less a 30 year old (male or female). So. No more stickers, Loot Crate!
How to Survive a Sharknado Attack Book– If you loved Sharknado and all it’s inherent silliness, you’ll love this tongue in cheek homage to the sharkiest of shark films. Either that or stuff it in someones stocking at Christmas this year.
Value: $9.99
“Oh, Brother” Art Print Superemofriends by JSalvador– Now, I have to admit that I have no idea what Superemofriends is but this is a rendition of Merle and Daryl from The Walking Dead.
There’s a fun interview with the artist in the Loot Crate Magazine, though.
Value: $15
Loot Crate Magazine FEAR Edition– There’s always a magazine in your Loot Crate. The reason this one looks all blurry is because you’re supposed to look at it with the included 3-D glasses. Luckily most of the content inside is regular print because that 3-D kind of makes my eyes cross.
The Walking Dead Special Cover Edition #132– This is an alternate cover done by Charlie Adlard of Judge Dredd and Batman fame. It’s kind of hideous but it’s also fitting so there you go. I haven’t taken it out of the plastic because I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with it. If I keep getting Loot Crates, I’ll have a stash of comics soon.
Value: $2.99
SMITE/Super7 Game Code– Unlock Thanatos with the Jack the Reaper Skin with code. I don’t play Smite and DH plays DotA so I don’t need this. Ping me if you want it. Taken!
VERDICT: This isn’t my favorite Loot Crate but only because I’m not really familiar with The Walking Dead and the other items. The T-shirt is definitely my favorite item. I’ll use the pen because it’s fun and put the Sharknado book in the boys bathroom to liven things up. 😉
I still think these are so much fun and my desk is beginning to look very full with all it’s collectibles on it.
